About My Why

Hi, I’m Marya Molette Eddaifi.

I’m from Canada but at 18 I ran off and got married to a sailor from the United States Navy. I found myself living in the United States long before there were cell phones and internet. Life was pretty lonely as a navy wife. We moved to Hawaii and that was where I had my son. He was born at Cripler Army Medical Center. It wasn’t the best experience, but I was only 22 and didn’t know better. It wasn’t until after I became a Labor and Delivery nurse did I realize how badly I was treated and grieved over my birth. Did I tell you this was 15 years later?

After realizing how nurses and medical providers impact such a huge life event, I became very passionate about advocating for my patients. I took a doula workshop, learned about body work and its impact on labor, created a birth preparation class, developed my own workshop I titled Dysfunctional Labor ManeuversSM to teach birth professionals how to help a woman progress in a labor that is protracted, obstructed, or prodromal. And I have loved every minute of it!

Now here I am with the wonderful world of the internet to connect with others, share my thoughts, ideas, passions to a community that is like minded. I am so thankful for this because working in hospitals in L&D can be hard, frustrating, and unfortunately; not everyone is as passionate as I am about body work for pregnancy & labor, natural methods, placental encapsulation, or just supporting women’s choices, so I sometimes I have felt alone.

But now I have y’all and it has been refreshing and amazing, and has given me strength to keep helping and supporting women birthing in hospitals so we can change the world through beautiful birth experiences!
